A grand ambassador for the territory and history of Friuli, this unique wine made from an ancient indigenous grape displays lively tannins and spices, combined with notes of black cherry and plum, leather and licorice.

Maceration on the skins occurs at a controlled temperature of 26°/28°C for a period of 10/14 days in order to have a good color extraction and maintain a good structure. After racking, the must is left in steel tanks to let the lees go down and stabilise. Then it is transferred in new French barriques of 225 lt, where it remains for 48 months. Here happens the malolactic fermentation which takes place spontaneously and lead to a softening of the tannins.

ABOUT THE WINERY

A family business from '60

More than forty years ago the Cantarutti history as Friulian winemakers began. It was the end of the ‘60s when Alfieri Cantarutti was mesmerised by a magnificent location with a small farmhouse, set among the foothills of Rosazzo: a stunning position and a breathtaking landscape.

Passion for the territory and respect of traditions are the keys of Cantarutti success.
